Naomi Osaka returns to social media to share Vogue Japan cover
Naomi Osaka is a force to be reckoned with.
On Monday, the 23-year-old tennis superstar shared her stunning Vogue Japan cover where she looked strong and stunning in a Louis Vuitton bralette paired with orange pants and her arms and long black hair in motion. She shared three more photos from the shoot, which were very fashion-forward, including one image where she donned a colorful Nike set.
"Yes," rapper Saweetie said proceeded by several, flame emojis.
Actress Storm Reid agreed sharing a similar response and Venus Williams gave the photos a few flame emojis as well.
"Hope you are doing well and staying safe. Miss you so much thinking about you every day," a fan wrote.
"Hope you are well too!! Great Work, Thank you for vouching for us introverts," a commenter added.
"Gorgeous! So proud of you for taking care of yourself!" another person continued.
Her Vogue Japan shoot comes a month after Osaka made headlines for withdrawing from the 2021 French Open after refusing to attend the competition's press conferences to protect her mental and emotional health, which resulted in a fine of $15,000. She made the announcement on her social media where she opened up about her struggles with depression.
Osaka wrote, in part, "The truth is that I have suffered long bouts of depression since the US Open in 2018 and I have had a really hard time coping with that. Anyone that knows me knows I'm introverted, and anyone that sees me at the tournaments will notice that I am often wearing headphones as that dulls my anxiety. Though the tennis press has always been kind to me (and I wanna apologize especially to all the cool journalists who I may have hurt), I am not a natural public speaker and get huge waves of anxiety before I speak to the world's media. I get really nervous and find it stressful to always try to engage and give you the best answers I can."
Osaka, a Japanese-American who was born in Japan, does plan to participate in the Tokyo Olympics, which begin on July 23, and a statement recent said that she's "excited to play in front of her home fans."
