EFCC - Why we raided BBNaija star, Dorathy's house

 The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC has reacted to claims by former Big Brother Naija housemate, Dorathy Bachor, that her house was broken into by its operatives. Recall that earlier today, Dorathy took to her Instastories to call out the agency after its operatives allegedly broke down the door of her apartment in the early hours of today while on the trail of a suspected fraudster. Read  here.   Reacting to Dorathy's claim, EFCC in a statement released this afternoon, said its operatives broke into the house because they refused to open the door. The statement reads   The attention of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has been drawn to a post on Instagram by one Dorothy Bachor, alleging that operatives of the Commission broke into her home in the early hours of today, 23rd August, 2021 The Commission can confirm that operatives from the Lagos Command of the Commission, acting on verified intelligence, executed a Search Warrant at a block of flats located

 US President, Joe Biden has blamed his predecessor Donald Trump for the sudden collapse of the Afghanistan government to Taliban militants. The Taliban has taken control of the government of the country after overpowering Afghan security forces in different parts of the country, with some surrendering without even putting up a fight.     With Kabul now in sights of being conquered by the Taliban, Biden, who is facing an inflation crisis, border immigration crises, covid-19 delta wave crisis and an infrastructure spending bill delay in the house floor, has now blamed Trump for the collapse of Afghanistan, saying Trump's agreement with the Taliban last year to withdraw US forces left him with no choice than to follow through or risk more US lives.     Biden's blame game also comes as he ordered additional military forces to go to Kabul as the situation in Afghanistan deteriorates.     The US is drawing down its embassy and is removing personnel from the central Asian country, bu

Former Chelsea striker; Diego Costa signs for Atletico Mineiro on free transfer

Former Atletico Madrid and Chelsea striker, Diego Costa has signed for Brazilian Serie A side Atletico Mineiro after eight months without a club.   Costa, 32, has been a free agent since Atletico Madrid terminated his contract six months before its expiration date last December, with the Spaniards citing 'personal reasons' for the move.  Following the termination of his contract, Costa was allowed to join any side as a free agent and was linked with several clubs.   On Sunday, Atletico Mineiro confirmed the striker's arrival in an official statement on their website, which reads: "Diego Costa is a Galo player.    "The athletic board and the player reached an agreement today. Galo will be his first club as a professional athlete in Brazil."     The Spain International rejoined Atletico Madrid from Chelsea on a permanent three-and-a-half-year contract in January 2018, but left Wanda Metropolitano six months before the end of the agreement.

South African rapper, Keirnan Forbes popularly known as AKA, this morning took to his Instagram page to express his sadness four months after losing his fiancee, Nelli Tembe.   The 22-year-old died on Sunday, April 11 after she fell from the 10th floor of the Pepperclub hotel in Cape Town.   AKA in his post said he will never be the same person he was but that he will do the best he can with the gift and opportunities of the life he has left.   He wrote ''4 months to this day.… it never goes away. Everyday I pray for her, myself and our families. I will never be the same person I was … but I will do the best I can with the gift and opportunity of life that I still have left. Thank You to everyone who has stuck by me and our respective families … you know who you are.''

Brits battling floods spot 'mermaid' going for a swim

Heavy rain in the UK has caused many streets to be flooded as drainage systems struggled to cope.   As residents try to deal with the flood, one Glasgow resident, who is currently unable to leave his flat, spotted a dramatic sight that he captured and shared online.     Gavin Millar, who snapped the photos, was looking out of his top floor apartment in a flat in Battlefield Gardens on the south side of the city, when he saw a mermaid swim past his window yesterday, August 7.   The rainwater had turned his street into more of a canal when he spotted the woman wearing a mermaid outfit attempting to swim in the floodwater.   However, people are convinced the "mermaid" is just a woman doing a photoshoot.

He said he hates pretentious people.     The second housemate that entered the house is Kayvee, a photographer who says he is coming in with his fine face and positive vibes.     The next housemate is JMK, a 23-year-old lawyer who says she is bringing fun into the house.     The fourth housemate is Queen who says she is an activist and a philanthropist. She said she will be bringing drama into the house.      

Super Eagles star Henry Onyekuru transferred to Olympiakos from Monaco on 4 year deal

Super Eagles striker, Henry Onyekuru has joined Greek giants Olympiacos on a permanent deal from Ligue 1 club Monaco. Onyekuru, 24, penned a four-year contract with the Greek league champions. “The Olympiacos FC announces the acquisition of international ace, Henry Onyekuru . The Nigerian, born on June 5, 1997 in Lagos, was acquired by Monaco while signing a four-year contract,”reads a statement on the club’s official website. “Having spent five years at Aspire Academy, Onyekuru took the first big step in his career in 2015 by signing a contract with Eupen.     “His 30 goals in 60 games with the Belgian club attracted several clubs with Everton acquiring his services in 2017. Harry Kane has failed to report for Tottenham Hotspur training in a bid to force a transfer to Manchester City. The England capatin was supposed to be back for his first session after Euro 2020 on Monday, August 2, for a coronavirus test and a fitness assessment following his three-week holiday after Euro 2020 but didn’t turn up amid potential exit.      Kane has told Spurs he wants to leave after growing frustrated at Tottenham's failure to win a major trophy since 2008, with their latest letdown coming in last season's League Cup final defeat against Manchester City. Big Brother Naija housemates, WhiteMoney, Beatrice, Yerins, Yousef and Niyi have been nominated for possible eviction this week.    Recall that Maria and Pere who were the wildcards (fake housemates) of the show were accepted as real housemates last night, after the remaining 20 housemates failed to identify them. They were also given the exclusive power of nominating 4 other housemates for eviction asides the Head of House.     While Maria nominated Beatrice, Yerins, JayPaul, WhiteMoney, Pere nominated Beatrice Yerins, Niyi and WhiteMoney.    Boma who won the Head of House challenge today, saved JayPaul with his veto power and replaced him with Yousef.   

Unknown Gunmen Bandits break into Zamfara hospital

The General Hospital at Dansadau, Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State was on Friday July 30, invaded by bandits.    Daily Trust reported that a nurse and caregiver were abducted by the bandits who reportedly headed to the outpatient ward during the attack.    An eyewitness said;    “When they couldn’t find anybody there, they starting going from one ward to another. A nurse and a caregiver were abducted. They then moved to staff quarters looking for doctors and nurses but could not find any. “The armed criminals had earlier attempted to attack Maigoge, a community located six kilometres north of Dansadau town. “But when they laid siege to the community, the vigilantes otherwise known as Yan Sakai firmly defended the village. The vigilante killed some of the bandits and injured several others. “They then invaded the hospital to kidnap nurse and doctors that will treat their injured brothers in the forest.  “The staff of the facility are not carrying out night duties no

Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters surrender to troops

Troops of 202 Battalion have taken custody of eight Boko Haram Insurgents and their families, comprising 10 adult females and 22 children, who surrendered to troops at Ruwaza village in Bama Local Government Area of Borno state.     In a similar development, troops of Forward Operational Base (FOB) operating along Bocobs- Bama road have arrested 20 Boko Haram fighters and their families, who surrendered to troops at Nbewa village, also in Bama Local Government Area of Borno state. The surrendering families of the insurgents comprised 15 adult females and 26 children. The suspects all surrendered to the troops, during clearance operations in the areas on 29 July, 2021 following ongoing intense clearance operations by troops in the general areas.     The children among the surrendering suspects have been vaccinated with polio vaccines, while the adult and female suspects, who have been documented and screened are currently undergoing preliminary investigations.     In a separate operatio

Ajax have announced the passing of their youth player Noah Gesser, who died at the age of 16 following a car accident on Friday evening, July 30.   In a statement released on their official website, the football club said: "Ajax has received the terrible news that Noah Gesser has passed away. "The 16-year-old youth player died in a car accident with his brother on Friday evening. "At the practice matches of Ajax 1 and Young Ajax this afternoon, the terrible news will be discussed. A minute of silence is held before the matches start and the Ajax players wear mourning bands. In addition, flags will be flown at half-mast at the Toekomst sports complex.   "Ajax is deeply moved by this tragic event. The club wishes the loved ones all the strength in coping with this immeasurable loss."   Noah Gesser had been with Ajax since 2018 and had been due to be part of the U17 set up for the forthcoming campaign.
